Multichannel brand campaign champions aviation's unique position to lead the world to a sustainable future, and presents E-Jet® SAF as the new standard for fossil-free flight.
Berkeley, CA June 18, 2024 — Twelve is proud to announce the launch of our "Fuel for the Long Haul" brand campaign that champions aviation's sustainable future and introduces the world to E-Jet® SAF, our sustainable jet fuel made from air.
E-Jet® SAF is a Power-to-Liquid e-SAF, which is fuel made from CO2, water, and renewable energy, resulting in up to 90% lower lifecycle emissions compared to conventional jet fuel derived from oil. E-Jet® SAF uses up to 1,000 times less water and 30 times less land than biofuels.
Aviation changed the world, and the industry is poised to do it again. We want industry leaders, policymakers, and everyday travelers alike to know that we can do this, we can decarbonize aviation with e-fuels like E-Jet® SAF and set a new standard for sustainable flight.

“Fuel for the Long Haul” is a multichannel brand campaign that celebrates a bold new standard for aviation’s sustainable future by introducing the world to E-Jet® SAF. The campaign will appear in out-of-home advertising, print, digital, installations, and via both online and in-person events to advance education and dialogue among industry leaders and consumers.
Campaign takes off from Times Square. Nasdaq congratulates Twelve on launch of Fuel for the Long Haul™
Since our inception in 2015, we have been working hard to build our Power-to-X carbon transformation technology, on a mission to create a fossil-free future and a world made from air. The Opus™ System is our industrial-scale CO2 electrolyzer that works like photosynthesis. It eliminates emissions by using CO2 as the feedstock for the electrochemical production of chemicals, fuels and materials. With the debut of E-Jet® SAF, our partnerships with leaders of industry, such as International Airlines Group (IAG) and British Airways, Alaska Airlines, Microsoft, Shopify, SABA, Boston Consulting Group, and Etihad Airways, paired with numerous achievements – including World Economic Forum and UpLink Sustainable Aviation Challenge winner (2024), MIT’s 15 Climate Tech Companies to Watch (2023), and TIME Best Inventions (2022), among others – demonstrate the impact of our mission and technology.
“At IAG we’re proud to be one of the first players in the aviation sector to be flying the flag for e-SAF,” said Jonathon Counsell, IAG’s Group Head of Sustainability. “Our deal with Twelve will help scale-up the production of power-to-liquid technology and bring this innovative part of the SAF industry one step closer to reaching its full potential. Its contribution to decarbonizing aviation will be significant, and we are pleased to be able to support it.”
At IAG we’re proud to be one of the first players in the aviation sector to be flying the flag for e-SAF. Our deal with Twelve will help...bring this innovative part of the SAF industry one step closer to reaching its full potential.
Global aviation will consume nearly 100 billion gallons of fuel this year alone due to the resurgence of tourism, emitting nearly 1 billion tons of CO2. With an increased worldwide focus on reducing emissions, both the U.S. and E.U. have set ambitious targets for SAF production and use via the landmark 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, follow-on state legislation, and the E.U.’s own SAF mandate, signaling strong market demand and regulatory support for the industry. Sustainable aviation fuel is critical to decarbonizing aviation. E-Jet® SAF leads the charge with up to 90% lower lifecycle emissions.

"Aviation sits at the center of the global supply chain and holds the power to connect each of us with our customers and loved ones,” said Nicholas Flanders, CEO and Co-Founder of Twelve. “Innovation, connection, and education are at the heart of the 'Fuel for the Long Haul' campaign, and E-Jet® fuel represents more than just a product. It symbolizes our larger commitment to creating a fossil-free future made possible by the incredible potential of carbon transformation technology. This campaign is about celebrating our milestones and, more urgently, rallying industry and everyday travelers alike to join us in this critical mission."
It takes everybody to change an industry, and we invite industry stakeholders and everyday travelers alike to join the movement towards sustainable aviation. Subscribe, connect and get involved by following Twelve on social media and visiting:

About Twelve
Twelve™ is the carbon transformation company. We turn CO2 into essential products with technology that works like industrial photosynthesis. We're on a mission to build a world made from air and a fossil-free future through the power of electrochemistry.
The Opus™ System
The Opus™ System is Twelve’s revolutionary technology that works like industrial photosynthesis. It transforms CO2, water, and renewable energy into hydrocarbons, the building blocks for essential chemicals, materials, and fuels.
The core technology is an industrial-scale PEM*-based CO2 electrolyzer with a novel transition metal catalyst that reduces CO2 and water into new useful molecules via CO2 electrolysis**.
*PEM stands for polymer electrolyte membrane or proton exchange membrane, used interchangeably.
**CO2 electrolysis, also known as CO2 electroreduction (CO2RR) is the reduction of CO2 into new chemical species using electrical energy.

Electrochemically Produced E-Chemicals & E-Fuels
If its made from oil, we can make it from air. We can replace the fossil fuel-based products, petrochemicals, in supply chains with e-chemicals and fuels made from CO2. The future is built from "electrochemicals" made from air instead of petrochemicals made from oil.
Our suite of products eliminate emissions from supply chains. E-fuels eliminate transportation emissions with up to 90% lower emissions compared to conventional fuels, and e-chemicals that form the basis for many materials and products are carbon-negative.
